Back in 2019 Katie decided to put down the laptop and pick up the paintbrush! Having a full-time career in sport and events, she started to yearn for more of a tangible purpose, a common occurrence for women in their late 30s. Katie spent some time reflecting on things she enjoy outside of work and kept coming back to DIY, a love of which she inherited from her very talented father. Katie’s grandfather’s favourite story to tell of her as a child was watching her completely dismantle her brand new rollerskates just to put them back together again.

After some soul searching and serious research, Katie found Able Skills training centre, enrolled onto a City & Guilds Painting & Decorating course and quickly got the buzz for transforming space using colour. This is where she met right-hand man Martin. Martin and Katie share many values and both believed that we could, and should, provide a better kind of painting and decorating service, and with that Katie Corkill Decorating was born.

Renovations and re-decorating can be a stressful experience for the homeowner and can be hugely influenced and affected by your relationship with the tradespeople working on your home. For you to truly love the end result you need to have enjoyed the process - from discussing colour choices together to letting strangers loose in your home, there’s a lot at stake. That’s why we believe that mutual trust and respect is of the utmost importance. 

As well as working with you to provide flexible, creative solutions to many decorating challenges, we pride ourselves on providing an extremely professional, considerate and friendly service. We treat your home like our own and work in a clean and tidy way, making you feel comfortable to easily remain working from home while decorating if required - or just ensuring that you don’t grit your teeth as you walk in the door at the end of the day. 

We now have as a fantastic team of like-minded, friendly and respectful decorators specialising in transforming homes across South London. We are certainly not your average ‘tradesMEN’. We’re very proud to have a team of both males and females, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
